The alternatives still exist, there is just less and less reason to use them because they charge extra fees.

Something like Pix is a great blueprint for the future imo. I don’t want international private companies controlling payments, better have my own elected government manage it.

Idk it’s just my experience from having worked in both roles 5+ years. YMMV Of course all roles have aspects that suck. But for me FTE is so much less stressful than sales - but I make less money. alas

No I was confused that they wouldn’t count the browser users when there is no good reason to when they try to eval their user base? MAU commonly includes web users as well. I blame TechCrunch for creating a website that I can’t read but yea

Technical sales and customer growth also don’t get the cut of sales that usually the actual sales reps do. In general i think sales reps make more money overall but have a much more stressful job and can get axed whenever they underperform

Yea we also handled it ourselves the first couple years but it was so painful. Literally the same thing you described happened - as well spending weeks+ how we need to file it as tax when we pay bounty to someone in Pakistan etc.

This and the pre-triage are the only reasons we even use a bug bounty platform. If paying out bounties was easy I would do it all via email; but as you said it’s almost impossible to do (unless you are maybe bigcorp and have a team just for

The “just choose to avoid” (because they are stupid and evil?) is very reductive. I work at an open source company and we always avoided using APGL for many complex legal reasons - most of our user base would use something else if we were t

100% and I think this is echoed across the thread. It does apply to many many things that are uncomfortable/hard. You somehow have to power through the part where you suck a lot and don’t worry about it. Mastering that is a huge advant

IMO I’m getting a lot of small stuff done that I wouldn’t have touched previously. It’s a little bit nicer for users but I would say the difference is marginal

Consequently 99% of software written is to make it easier to buy stuff (at least in web dev). They say the internet is for porn but it’s really to sell/buy stuff Edit: even with LLMs the “killer” application is to make it easier to buy

Crazy how obscure episodes of world history land randomly on the front page - how does it even happen? I grew up in Germany but I don’t think we covered this in history class - maybe I forgot about it, the whole medieval period is mostly a

I don’t know, like who even remembers Meian and Ragn0r, who created the original Dota before icefrog took over? I think icefrog benefited a lot from creating Dota and is widely credited - I mean it landed him a great job at valve after bli

I think it’s pretty subjective at that point what is good and what isn’t. Totally agree on the dark patterns though. Out of interest what is a game you consider excellent that maybe wasn’t marketed as well? Personally I really like dungeon

Sure the genre and many of its archetypes were invented in the WC3 fun/custom map scene but LoL is more than a Dota clone. I haven’t really played it (my moba time ended with HoN) but it’s obviously very well made

Yea I don’t get the GP/OP sentiment at all. Some of the best food I ate in places that looked like complete design wrecks. And yes now these places use a lot of really badly made ai art. The food is still delicious.
