I give boeing a pretty hard time, but the 787 is great. It's far more comfortable than pretty much anything else out there. The windows alone make the experience better.

Totally legitimate question. Boeing got let off the hook last time for egregious shit. They paid a fine and their fleet went back up.

Since the MAX program was created specifically to avoid going through a full certification process, I'd say they're going to triple down. On the spectrum of MAX shenanigans, a hole blowing open in the fuselage barely ranks. The pl

If a brand popped up and offered a gasoline ICE with old toyota-level reliability and longevity, and without electronics (save for maybe bluetooth for some music) I'd pay a sizeable premium for it.

You missed the whole fiasco. Boeing intentionally deceived everyone involved, from the FAA engineers certifying the MAX to the pilots that were told that they were equipped to fly them. Boeing noticed that the thing didn't fly like a 7

The was no pilot error or equipment malfunction in that incident. (I suppose you could look at the pilot of the dash 8 and wonder why he didn't hold short, but he could have been driving a golf cart and still made an runway incursion.)

And Delta has an outstanding order for 100 of them, with delivery scheduled throughout 2025. We'll see if these continued incidents alter that, but I think the inertia is that this is what boeing selling these days. Everyone will have

OK, well, in spirit I can see how that sentiment arises. For practical purposes, though, no matter how simple a calculation, if a government requires that I do it, I want to see precisely what it's demanding. It is unreasonable to be p

I was expecting to find that federal employment has grown faster than the US population, but it looks like that's not the case. Since 2000, the federal workforce seems to have grown about 14%, while the overall population increased by

It's a real shame. Legislating isn't a full-time job naturally, but we've made it so by turning it into one of the most lucrative careers. We judge congress perversely by output of new laws.

That's true, but then contrast that to the treatment of the openai situation, where there were 1000+ comment threads devoted to vague tweets. (The "I Love You All" = Ilya thing was particularly wacky.)
