I was. No problems with it at all other than the native iOS Fastmail app was useless without a data connection. You couldn’t do anything offline. Also it’s difficult to export all your data from calendars and contacts. And there is no notes

I don't really care enough to stop people suffering any further. Works for me. Ticket closed :)

I did it absolutely fine. There is no junk on the disk and no processes sitting there. A lot of the articles out there are trying to sell cleaning software so they make it look harder than it is.

Yes we have no problems for 2 years. Then we had problems.

In the UK we have some serious social drinking issues unlike America where a couple of beers is perfectly fine. I prefer going to a bar in the US than a pub here because it's a decent social event.

Not necessarily. In cities people tend to be disparately located so usually ends up via public transport. In small towns the local pub can be a 30 minute walk away or a 30 minute taxi away depending on how many of them have closed down and

It's about right. I was involved in a project to get rid of an i860 design (aerospace) and replace it with a PPC design. No one had anything nice to say about 7 years of keeping an i860 design alive.

This. I own a shitty one from Aliexpress. That and sigrok are better than my old full 4U HP crate I had. But if you want to build one, why not?

Yes same. We had one which we had to recreate a whole EKS cluster because AWS couldn’t fix it too. I don’t sleep these days.

It was AWS who had trouble fixing our CNI issues…

It's really easy to uninstall their stuff from a Mac. Done it a few times. Just use the CC cloud app to uninstall the main apps then use the CC uninstaller to do it. Then reboot the mac. There are some things left in ~/Library you

I used to be like that but quite frankly nothing else comes near Photoshop and Lightroom Classic for me. The bottom end photo sub is cheap and you don't need to use any of the cloud stuff.

It’s really complicated when something goes wrong. That is my only criticism. Particularly in the various CNI layers out there. You really have to know exactly how everything works to get through those days and that is beyond the average pe

Well it depends on the material really. You can take a good photo on a phone and a crappy one on a DSLR. You can listen to crap music on a dedicated audio player too…

To note you can add your own music to Apple Music. About half my music was from CDs and iTunes back in the day.

Not so sure about that. I’ve got a decent quality pro audio interface and monitor headphones. I’ve also got airpod pros. The AirPods sound much much better and I prefer listening to anything with them. It’s all subjective.

The problem is the ecosystem owners seem to be evolving into the main bad actors. Well two of them at least.

I certainly wasn't arrogant with the last one. Hey dudes, there's a pointer dereferencing crash here which occurs when I do X, Y then Z. Added one line change to fix it. SILENCE. There are no test cases for most projects either.

I raised a ticket on an open source project about a defect. It was open for 6 months with no comment. So I fixed it and did a PR. The PR was still sitting there open after 6 months. More interesting PRs to the developers have been merged. A

Having tried to improve things on multiple projects and being ignored or got hostile responses I gave up on open source contribution. I bought a Mac and use Lightroom and I’m happy to give them both my money.

There's loads of stuff like this. If you detach an EC2 instance from a virtual tape library and destroy it you can't delete the tape library any more. Even AWS support couldn't delete it. This is fine until you have 60TB of t

$400 mini PC gets you an i5-11500T with NVME SSD that will take 128Gb of RAM. Some of them even pop up with NVidia T400 in them. New with Lenovo warranty on eBay. The i5-11500T has better single and multi thread performance. Sure you won’t
