I'd be very interested to hear what Google's done to their perforce server, if anything. I used to do vendor support for a company that does version control for chip design. Basically Perforce + some metadata and applications that

If you want to test somebody's ability to think a problem and not just bullshit 100%, why not ask them questions like "Given two integer variables x and y, write a function to swap their values without using a third variable"

I left twice, both times personal. Once for college, once a bit over a year ago. Tech permeates the area, and the expectations surrounding it can be harsh. The expectations put on kids can be too much, and I hated it. And honestly, I really

Feels like the other thing people do is conflate Silicon Valley the place (in my mind, the Valley of the Heart's Delight) with Silicon Valley the idea, the tech center There are many tech-y people who move there because it's more

I feel like sn's biggest issue/strength is the length it lets you customize things. Sure, it can suck so incredibly bad. But it can be really good too, depending on who built it up. But I agree that the URLs are terrible, it'

I just moved and then a few weeks later drove 1600 miles roundtrip to visit family. All total, that's over 90% of the driving I've done since December. The start was definitely weird, I'd definitely lost some of the skills I

I don't think it helps that what works for some people doesn't work for others. I coded very very little before I graduated college but got my first tech-ish job because I knew a guy and I could explain my thought process well des

My last job was supporting some hardware companies' design VC. Absolutely insane. I think it's also a cultural thing. Like you said, lots of your own special secret sauce, and so many issues trying to fix bugs that may have to do

You're not wrong that congress should fix things too. But I don't think they're trying to redefine the word. From the impression I got (and I only read the outline of the decision), the most important part seems to be: > A

That's fair. I'd be ok with forcing two bedrooms of housing for each worker space added. I don't think all the McMansions and condos are good however. I'd rather you force people to add space for lots of people. Otherwis

But they should try something. Maybe degentrification could include a city requirement not to displace people when building new housing. The developer puts the previous occupant up and then guarantees them their same rent for, say, a decade

I'd imagine it's worse now, but I was sweating blood during my AP tests 8 and 9 years ago. If I were told by College Board that they messed up, they couldn't verify what I did, and that I'd have to take the tests again,
