there are more than a few backup providers that do this security trade off with user acceptance of the risk. if this trade off isn't good for the user, they can use any other number of insecure backups.

you usually use a chemical attractant insert along with the device. I have one of these. Success seems to be hit or miss. I've run one for a year and it seems to only accidentally catch mosquitos, and that's not a unique outcome.

why would you need machine learning? just detect a minimum of one bright light source, assume it's a headlight, and switch the lights. What the worse a false positive could do? this doesn't need AI

because painting an entire neighborhood in flammable fluid isn't safe... if it doesn't catch fire it'll corrode everything it touches. most planes can't dump fuel anymore. if it's a serious enough emergency you land

i don't think anyone would disagree that a law can "age out", but simply ignoring it because it's old versus revisiting it's intent and modifying/removing/etc are two very different strategies.
