That's a completely non-related analogy. A better one is if you were to go to a university, become a student, use their facilities, and do research there, then the uni rightfully owns a percentage of any IP you come up with there. It&#

Your tears are very salty so seawater actually isnt that different from the water that's already in your eyes. A lot of panic people have in opening their eyes in seawater stems from their experience of chlorinated swimming pools - whi

This is nothing to do with 'flat' design. It's to do with the UX anti-pattern of forcing user registration on checkout.

Likewise I read all Hacker News links and comments over an iPhone HN app. Absolutely don't miss the form at all except in the cases where the source HTML is not semantic and so the reader mucks it up. But that's an issue with stru

There's actually already a medium that can last hundreds, if not thousands of years which could contain the spec for this device. Let me see if I can drum up a link for it. Ah, here we go: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik

If you placed comments on the closing curly brackets to state where they started, then that's perfectly readable. e.g .myclass { ...30 loc ... } /* .myclass */ I really don't see this enough.

I can agree with this too. Recently found a job after 50+ applications. I started with heavily tracking them, but in the end I lost the care in doing it. When a potential lead called me up it was to arrange an interview and so as soon as I

Try lying on your front and do a sit up in reverse. The weight of your upper body is enough and helps strengthen your lower back. Ironically it was an osteopath who told me of this exercise as I used to have lower back pain. After a few wee

Customers could keep their grid connection for backup purposes, but it should be rarely needed. Therefore if a customer is acting 99% self-sufficient, the grid operator is going to lose out. And this could happen within years when battery t

I know I know, comments 99.9% of the time are non-constructive; but goddam it, I enjoy reading them. Sometimes they're good, but most of the time just a laugh. I like you're attempt to try something new (old) but as others have sa

I grew up in the same small Scottish town my whole life, as did all my friends. I'm now 32, live in London, have travelled the world, but best of all, I still very regularly see my old school friends. Giving kids culture growing up is

Tip for the lemonade- in the supermarket, rather than the fridge, go to the aisle with the giant bottles of coke on it. There you can pick up the same lemonade from the fridge, but twice as much volume for 30p. My favourite is fizzy flavour

Just like when I tried Mario Kart 64 on the Wii's marketplace. It's lousy, really lousy, compared to the newer versions. Don't ruin great memories, they belong in the past for a reason.
