A Python package was split into free/pro tiers, and the author deleted previous versions of the "free" library that still contained all functionality.

I get what they mean -- it has definitely gained a foothold in the tool/utility world thanks to easy cross-compilation and single-binary output. Given their target, I definitely understand why they would put it in that group.

To be fair, the ones I've seen use a form of point 1 (giving all facts in the prompt) by allowing for searching the web, which becomes a version of point 2 (summarization).

Take a look at https://phind.com Being able to search the web allows it to deal with recent information: you can ask it to limit its search to the API documentation for the library you're working with.

If you really don't want to use different ports you can handle it with Docker. Since each container has its own IP, they can all expose the same port. Otherwise, for non-containerized deployments you'll have to resort to two diffe

100% agree. There are some libraries like https://amoffat.github.io/sh/ that aim to make that easier, but they always have some quirks that, funnily enough, are often the corner cases you were hitting in your complicat

You raise a very valid point, but one could make an argument that it's _okay_ for innovation and entrepreneurship to slow down, if it's done to protect people's rights and ensure that companies do things "properly."

Hm, this is actually a very interesting case. If the extension is (I'm assuming) literally just leveraging the API and not storing anything at all, would it be sufficient to let people know it's doing so in order to be compliant w

I love, love, love Teenage Engineering's design and they create really cool products, but this seems too crazy a price point even for them. When they released the TX-6 mixer for $1199 I almost understood their reasoning, since pro au

For the record, while Netflix really pushed the anime angle, Castlevania is actually an entirely American production. It was written, directed, and animated entirely in America by Americans.

I love asciinema. A key difference between these two tools seems to be that asciinema records a human using the terminal, whereas VHS generates output based on a list of steps to execute. I can see VHS being nicer than asciinema for a lot o

Ahh yeah, I guess I should specify that these were not breaks I took "on purpose": one was while waiting for some documentation to go through, and the other one was parental leave, and at least one of them was partially paid.

I don't know about higher level, more expensive stuff, but many popular microcontrollers (like the ESP8266 and ESP32) have SPI flash onboard, without any built-in wear leveling.
