Any way to request access to a folder to read all the local files in it?

I was really excited, then I noticed there's no Linux support.

That was cool, but couldn't figure out how to move around other than tilt even after reading all the controls explanation.

Wow that's interesting. Never realized lambdas capture "this" and not the actual data members itself! That also means you can get in big trouble if the object that got captured was deleted, ouch.

If they used an array of structs they would've cut down on the GC's graph traversal significantly. Another option I was surprised they didn't mention was to run GC.Collect periodically to clear out gen2.

That's usually up to the phone or camera manufacturer to tune, almost nobody uses the built-in compensation except for prototypes.

Great. Now what are we supposed to use to search code? I can't think of any alternatives.

But why do they keep putting in a smaller 800x480 resolution screen?

I'd like to see some evidence that transmitting ARM binary code of JS is faster than transmitting the original JS and then JITting it to ARM. The binary alone will be a magnitude larger at least than the original source.

Really, really cool. I hope they extend Silk to all their products.

Great, now we can buy the cheaper version, jailbreak it, and remove ads. Brilliant!

Tab groups would've been much better if they showed all the tabs across all windows (like Expose on Mac does for windows). Unfortunately it's just a gimmick in its current implementation.

That's pretty cool. Is that related to this? http://arxiv.org/abs/cs/0408040

That's pretty cool and could be very useful, how is the performance if it's done over the internet as opposed to locally?

This reminds me of the movie Limitless, where the protagonist devised computer algorithms that would scan forums and other social media sites to get people's sentiments of what would happen to the stock, then successfully made 40x+ returns

Is there by any chance any use cases of why would someone use one concurrency model (e.g. ZeroMQ) over another (gevent)?

Great story, it really highlights the lack of strategical thought in a product, and how the non-engineering "decision making" teams can just spin their heads around not getting anything real accomplished.

That may be so (and I'm not an Apple insider, although I do know a few LLVM devs). I guess you could say a driving motivator to find an alternative solution to GCC was to not be reliant on a GPLv3 license. Traditionally I don't think the li

I want to completely agree with this guy, I really do. But Visual Studio 2010 supported more of C++11 then most other major compilers (except I think for Comeau and GCC) when it was released. Apple didn't choose Clang over GCC for political

That is great. In my school we only had a class with Ocaml, not quite as mind blowing since it didn't have lazy evaluation, monads, type classes, or any of the other crazy distinctive things in Haskell that don't exist in ML-style languages

Very cool, I didn't realize there was a generic version of Pex (the unit test generator for C#). Now if only I could figure out some way to unit test drivers...

C# lets you make very powerful UIs with very little work (thanks to WPF) which most importantly feel quite native. WPF is also the only widespread framework that I know of that lets you have pretty much any kind of control inside another co

How exactly would you sniff traffic between an encrypted site and the browser, without running JS in that encrypted site, or without exploiting the browser (in which case you already won and don't need need to break SSL)? Is this some sort

Yeah, I gotta say, I knew exactly how it worked the moment I looked at the radix tree picture on wikipedia. After reading more than half the linked article though I still had very little understanding of what it really did.

I had a similar experience (I was 9). The difference is that in the U.S. public system you get placed in "ESL" (English as a Second Language) program which dumbs down the entire curriculum, especially English, and tries to hand hold all the

Thankfully since then the HotSpot JVM has become one of the most advanced VMs in terms of JIT optimization, doing things that are so wild and crazy that other JITs can only dream of.

Like python syntax, except it compiles to GObject-using C. Reminds me a lot of Boo for .NET Don't like the arg:type syntax, too used to python's : symbol meaning begin new block. Maybe it got that from functional languages that use arg:type

Even if Metro does not allow Silverlight plugins, it is still using WinRT, which is using XAML UIs and more importantly developers can use C# to write apps against it. So the knowledge isn't entirely lost, it's just transferred.

I'm surprised that there's not some kind of real time-ish callback when the screen is about to update, giving the game a last chance to update its buffer? Or better yet there should be a way of saying "use this buffer next time you update t
