We have to replicate somehow the PC ecosystem into mobile phones. I'd like PostmarketOS / Manjaro to take off, hope it becomes ready as everyday driver one day.

Yeah but that's ARM IP though. There's a window of opportunity with RISC V, but something tells me that the fact it's open source rubs against some people.

The EU has the tech, but that's not enough. I won't say the whole budget will be wasted away, but I hold no hope of something useful coming out of it. The EU has ASML, NXP, Infineon, maybe STM (not sure) and a ton of little shops,

5 years behind for a system you can actually use is pretty decent IMO. For a massive capital intensive business, high-tech, and with a much smaller internal market than China, that's quite an achievement.

Yeah, being successful has its problems, as everyone wants to game your search engine, but what has that to do with the changes they made to make their search almost impossible to refine. Operators are basically useless, they may or may not

CSV is a bad a idea if you work with text or string. I work a lot with data transformation, and CSV with text usually means headache. Not to mention if you treat data from different countries. Excel is too limited, odf formats are typically

If I can't get a machine for local development I wouldn't care personally. I like the idea of many many threads as I work a lot with data, but i need something like a PC to try things on. Also, don't really like vendor lock-i

Studying through UNED is pretty hard though. Spanish universities are still pretty opposed to other countries style of handholding education that Bolonia (tried) brought to Spain, and UNED is probably the most extreme version of that. Als

IDK in the US, but in my country rural internet is indeed expensive. Using old telephone poles makes it easier, but you still need network elements, pay people for deployment and it's very low density. The most expensive part is paying

One of the parents talked about the rest of the world. Hence my reply. You don't have to be in the 3rd world to consider an Apple product extremely expensive. I agree that practical ARM64 Workstations will be more feasible now, but the

Cheap is not that relative when you're poor. When your making an effort to buy an $400 laptop Apple is out of the equation. I know because I've been in that place.

Being cheaper than similar specs is not enough, you have to have cheap devices and apple does not.

It depends on the price. Apple products are rather expensive, and if you're poor you may not understand interoperability but you can see its effects. I'm very far from SV salaries for example, and although I can afford an Iphone o
