I had one tell me all ints are 16 bits, and then they said 0xffff is a 32bit number.

Is there a reason in particular why btrfs is not part of this discussion? It's been mentioned once in passing.

Intel uses its own fabs for certain IP, tsmc for others yeah. As far as I've seen the latest greatest Panther Lake that stuff is made in intel's arizona fabs.

i just use aerospace. It's not that great, but it's a lot more usable than without it. I wish it performed as well as glazewm on windows. I can make a windows box be almost as responsive as a linux box, I simply cannot do that wit

It was night time so idk how obvious it would be that a plane is approaching when you're in a firetruck and probably have a million others things going on that all necessitate your attention as well.

I once had neighbors above me whose kids yelled all the time. all the time. and sometimes they were sick of the yelling and they put their girls outside of the apartment door. and she was just punching hard the door over and over and yellin

Yeah, I can’t imagine why anyone would think that moving away from the most explicit source of truth possible would make AI work any better. the things good UIs excel at is data representation, not processing. Representing a tree or a graph

I think most people on HN are just regular joes and there’s a strange expectation that most people in tech are on the spectrum or something. not that there’s anything wrong with that

You know it often is the case that APIs like this both in C++ and Rust don't offer you enough knobs when your usecase deviates from being trivial. It happens with locking APIs, it happens with socket APIs, anything platform dependent.

same. i thought it would have been as quick to pick up as rust. nowhere near. i spent weeks trying to go through every feature of the language at least once. time in which i could’ve read several rust books and already start hacking up some

to this day i don’t know what people mean by “features”. Lambdas are nice to have, just don’t nest them more than once. I kinda wish things like std::variant had shorter syntax. if anything i’m not a fan of c++ introducing language features

I am still using LLMs just to ask questions and never giving them the keyboard so I haven’t quite experienced this yet. It has not made me a 10x dev but at times it has made me a 2x dev, and that’s quite enough for me. It’s like jacking off
