That's not the reason, if it were, then within the EU, southern members would use more energy. It's a lot more nuanced, with bigger houses in the USA, a lot cheaper construction, higher industrial output than poorer European count

Then again, France is unable to get their EPR design implemented in time and on budget in their own country, let alone in the UK. Even in France, there's a growing trend towards renewables.

I really like Vestager, but Apple will fight this tooth and nails in court. Sad that the article is so extremely anti-EU instead of pro-consumer.

Personally, I love that I can open a web site in the browser from say the Reddit app and back will bring me back to the Reddit app. Guess I'll miss this behavior.

Same for Sony. Got like 2.5y support and that's it, not even regular security updates. I am thinking about switching to iPhones. I just hope the anti-trust case forces Apple to allow other App stores or side-loading. That and the back

It'll work if you install a piece of software that changes the device identifier. You are right though that Apple retires support after 6-7y. That surely could be longer considering how desktop/mobile CPUs have stagnated over the

Wait, I like HN very much, but that's just wrong. HN is basically what one tech-subreddit would be. This is fine, but not very inclusive, just because it is focused. People also like Facebook which is far from simple stuff. Inclusivene

Revocation would still be possible, I guess. At least it should be possible to build a revocation flow on top of blockchain. I am not so sure this kind of authentication will really catch on - the UX of Metamask and other wallets is just at

Gas on ETH is super low right now, around 20Gwei which translates into a $1 fee for a send and maybe $5 for minting an NFT. Tezos on the other hand is a complete ghost town, it has absolutely no traction - and I say this as a soon to be ex

There really should be some karma decay system to prevent early users hogging 5-figure reputation. I didn't do much there in the last 5y but I am still way up in reputation.

Going by Wikipedia, they saw the need for a new plane (the later named 787) by the late 90's, announced it in 2003 and delivered the first plane in 2011. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787_Dreamliner

Competition at least on shorter-haul routes has been on ticket price and time slots. I have little doubt Chinese planes would sell into the low-cost market. Maybe not into the thousands from the get-go, but airlines will have to keep prices

Volcanic eruptions on the one hand and radioactive waste on the other are bad enough - no need to combine both. Basically nothing would happen except that the radioactive materials would be dispersed among the environment.
