I never use TFA if it's SMS based. I don't understand why every company isn't using the standard TOTP TFA with a secret key, that way I can manage who has access to my TFA codes very easily. I just scan a barcode on my phone

QuizUp (I think that was the name) had a really interesting way of solving this - they pretended the users are online. Is this lying? Maybe, but for anyone not aware of this fact the experience was great. Now, QuizUp is probably a more uniq

Oh please, every week there's at least one post that reaches the top 10 about women in tech. HN is filled with plenty of bright individuals who are quite capable of perpetuating equality.

The best (and only) flying simulation I've ever experienced was on a ride at California Adventure, which was built inside a warehouse. Riders were locked into a seat (rows of about 6) and a projector turns on. Wind starts blowing, as t

I would think that the severity of hypoxia depends on where in the body it happens. As far as I know (not much, admittedly) exhaling then counting to 60 is different than not allowing any oxygen into the brain. If you look at the Wikipedia

I think simulated slowness is probably better than actual slowness. Something like a javascript file you could include that would hide all the content on the page and show each element at the same speed you'd see with a throttled netwo

That's what he's saying. While the author's statement may not necessarily be incorrect, the trend these days is to manage your JS (both server and client side code) with package managers like NPM and Bower.

I don't know the technical name for the disappearing elements, but I'm assuming it's intentional. Interesting twist! I don't think I'm smart enough to play this one though, I'll stick with doge.
