Reader View. After you scroll through the first graphics it’s easy to read in Reader View, if you have an iPhone. Not sure how it works on Android.

People go to bars to drink. It would be silly for anyone to say something about going to a bar to drink, even if you are alone. Second, it’s never cool to call someone a loser. Maybe they were self projecting. Find another bar.

Don’t know anything about Clonidine. Gabapentin is often prescribed for depression. It can be taken with other antidepressants. I’ve heard it can cause severe weight gain via water weight and bloating.

Extremely cool. Thanks for making this.

Yes, I’m seeing a ton of jealousy. It’s very obvious.

Well deserved. Signed up to give it a try. Very cool so far! I had no idea the level of engagement I was getting.

We use MinIO in production as a Git LFS storage backend for GitLab. Knock on wood, works well.

Not piling on AWS. These things happen and I’m sure everyone involved is working to improve things. Yes, everyone should deploy in multiple availability zones. My 2 cents. Outages happen. Network glitches happen. Bad configs and bad updates

Are you indicating that everything in the IA was added via a person clicking on “archive this page”? I don’t think that is correct. A lot of it was added via automated methods?

IA needs to respects robots.txt and they need to make it easier to request data to be removed. Not everyone fully supports the IA mission and they need to respect that view as much as they respect their supporters.

Pretty amazing if you think about. The operators would have to be pretty brazen to operate along the Southern California coast for any length of time, let alone follow Navy Destroyers. Do consumer drones still require line of sight? I don’t

Still one of my favorite movies. Such a great cast.

Thanks. Didn’t know if it was a custom dashboard or something provided by AWS.

That is a shame. Anyone coming in after the fact to investigate an outage or glitch with their systems will need to look harder to find a known AWS outage. We can’t assume everyone looks at HN.

by iJohnDoe 5y ago
Probably a silly question, but what are you using to get this info?
678.
by iJohnDoe 5y ago
Yes, seeing it too. Seems to be down in a major way. Lots of various AWS services are down. However, so many things depend on AWS that it could just be EC2 is down and it is causing a rippling affect.

Could Beyond Compare be used as a backup solution to transfer files from a file server to a backup drive (like a Synology)?

There doesn’t seem much reason to “love Backblaze” based on what you said. You might as well be transferring your files into a volcano and then have to trek into the volcano in the hopes you might get lucky and everything hasn’t burned up i

Anyone know of safe versions of this for Windows?

All these posts mentioning Firefox. If anyone has read HN for any length of time, then you’ll know all the shady stuff Mozilla/Firefox has done. And not just hand waving “crypto” stuff that Brave gets accused of doing, but truly slimeb

Seeing this on Black Friday deals. Something is reduced by $150 for Black Friday, but it turns out the sale price is the normal price you would find anywhere. Double check prices before buying anything else today and tomorrow

How can Apple differentiate between state sponsored FISA hacks vs. other hacks or USA hacks? Before Apple sends a notification, do they cross reference any existing warrants they received and make sure they don’t notify the customer that th

An important caveat. If the messages are backed up to iCloud then they are not en encrypted. Apple may encrypt iCloud backups, but they hold the key and can turn the data over to the law enforcement. Syncing messages across your devices is

Seems more privacy focused than Microsoft and Apple? So sad to even think that. Also, remember that China wouldn’t use Windows 10 due to how invasive the telemetry is unless Microsoft gave them a special version just for China. I’m not sayi
