Asset price inflation is and for many decades has far outpaced wage inflation. Combined with the widespread social destruction it's not really worth participating for most people.

It's really a wonder Mozilla keeps going. They've absolutely lost it.

Yeah, I saw that. My worry is that this will just make drive-by malware easier.

Middle management is bad enough when it's done by trained competent people. I can't imagine working under the direction of one of these LLMs.

That will probably turn out to have been a mistake. RAR should not be easy to use. TAR and CPIO would have been better formats to support out of the box.

I'm certain self hosting will be required for these sorts of machines to make sense. It's also easier to do these days than you'd think. Let me know if you want help setting it up.

The people aren't so much the issue. To deal with dependency churn, CVEs etc people have started setting up automatons to generate PRs. Those can generate a ton of them with minimal information about their real impact(unlike human PRs)

People were beginning to use more automation even before LLMs. The amount of spam eg renovate generates can be overwhelming. I think something will be done to separate human PRs from robot PRs.

I had to switch back to bitcoin because Ehtereum just got way too bloated. I wish they'd focus some on making the software/protocol usable for a little while. It's really the gnome of crypto: They're unconcerned about ch

I think it's good. This sort of thing will move Universities back to being about teaching and research instead of vending credentials.

A lot of Americans are really tired of some of the things the federal government has been doing and would be more than happy to see it stop by whatever means possible, even if that means some short term economic hardship.

I think the distinction is that one idea has the page change the mode on its own and the other has the user change the mode.

The LISP people were right to make trees essentially a first class data structure.

This. I'd happily buy a minimalist electric car (bonus if they can use/create off the shelf parts) but I'm not going to pay extra . Then again my two cars and yacht are all used beaters.

I have my local chatbot set up to automatically run shell commands that start with "$." It wouldn't be too hard to check the status and have the LLM try to debug it if something goes wrong. This to me seems much more flexible

Have you tried getting it to write a high level description before reproducing the code with comments? (via either FSL or instructions) Most of the reasoning ability in LLMs comes from them rambling about something and then the attention pi

Why have the LLM do arithmetic at all though? Just have it generate python if you need a calculation.

I posted the from-scratch kanban board to /prog/ last year. I should post the patches to fix some of the bugs I've found. It's pretty nice: just an INI file I keep wherever I keep the docs for whatever project.
