Don't be so assumptive that a 30 page long main function is bad code. The code still can be well organized and readable. Function is not the only method to organize code. Knuth's literate programming for example is invented to bet

For me, the speed of find and grep is sufficiently never a concern, so I do not find these speedy alternatives sufficient to compensate for its non-universality. And when the speed of grep and find do become a concern, I would think the iss

Developers use macros. Now since they are developers, they had less problem develop with a programming language and may prefer to do so than using the TeX macro system. The alt-TeX can simply be extended with plugins or modules.

A Turing INcomplete TeX copy would be nice. I.e. no macro facility, with common escape sequence implemented in hard code. I do not encounter TeX users who write their own macros often.

How do I install vim? PS: It has git, but no network. PS: Upload non-zipped tar balls works. How to access the image (downloading)? PS: Well, it is way too slow and hangs easily. I guess it is only an interest at this point.

The idea that we need to get the code correct in one-go is questionable. Any coder only has limited slots for short-term memory. Spending some of those slots keeping track of syntax balancing is a questionable advice. Instead of getting stu

To live without google is not hard. But the question is not about can or cannot, it is about will or will not. It is about will you deliberately choose less ideal products simply out of an idea. It is about how much, really, do you buy into

It will be a frustrating experience to learn C with a mindset of career. The mindset of career is about results, C is often not a shortcut to most superficial (visible) results. (It is a shortcut to real programming skill though, but a real

First, what is programming? Programming is basically writing out instructions with names, verbs, if/else's, and loops. The latter three are not much different in all languages, but names! The programs we wrote -- the style, detail
