Yep, it's time to stop taking the high road because republicans will ditch norms when it fits them anyway (see: Mitch Mcconnell in 2016 vs 2020 on supreme court picks) Dems are held to a higher standard both internally and by the media

This argument doesn't really make sense. The "expectation of privacy" in public doesn't refer to losing all your rights and letting anyone peek into anything when they want to. Vehicles can also be used on private roads

Yeah but if you're running something that is using a ton of bandwidth, presumably it's a service that needs to be online and reliable. Being cheap and constantly cycling out servers introduces complexity to your system. Hetzner co

One thing I cannot stand about C++ is the fractured nature of everything . Compilers, build tools, package management, etc... It feels like you need to be a wizard just to get a project compiling and start writing some code.

The same could be said for all of the utilities used on Linux (that they're increasingly becoming huge targets) as seen by the recent XZ backdoor[0]. The open source model of limited funding and maintainer burnout are an inherent risk

Dependencies are optional, and having a huge standard library also has its tradeoffs. If the standard library has a less than ideal API, it's stuck with that until a major version bump and you either: 1. End up with a third party packa

Money doesn't guarantee anything, as seen by the recent issue with Okta. If you're using a centralized auth service and expecting no vulns or exploits, you're going to be severely disappointed. These are the juiciest targets

This is my read, too. Creating a fork to contribute a PR is not an issue. If you fork and diverge while still calling it "Rust" then you're probably in hot water. Even then, no one would care unless you amassed a following or

That's a nice take if you completely ignore what Trump has said over the past 8 years about multiple generals including Mark Milley and Jim Mattis. Insinuating that they should be put to death, personal insults, etc.. all because they

This is a massive indicitment of our country. We get what we deserve. Voting based on perception, not facts, especially given Trump's overall character and abhorrent track record, is going plunge us further into far right extremism. En

I'm not advocating for taking away users rights, just pointing out that the current model doesn't really jive with the desire to stop cheaters. This is going to be a never ending cat & mouse game.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but in this context there is no difference. If you know someone is cheating, you prevent further cheating by banning them. Now I'll ask: how do you detect someone wall hacking aut

What? The current PC gaming model where things run on a machine controlled by the user is fundamentally against solving the issue of cheats. You can't prevent everything server-side.
