Tech isn't a zero sum game, it's a growth market. If some H-1B talent helps grow a company faster, then they can increase their own citizen employee count faster.

That was ~2007-2017. You are literally describing how TVs worked in the past. Still one of their core functionality.

That is how Hollywood does movies. Other film traditions will more accurately adapt the source material. For example, many animes are a shot-for-shot recreation of manga.

I had the 5-10 second safe driving message on an old car. I spent the time making sure myself and all of my passengers were buckled, that my mirrors were adjusted correctly, that my car was sounding normal and gauges looked healthy, etc.

If I recall correctly these anti-piracy statements were like 10 seconds out of 2 hours of runtime. Hardly makes the product poisoned.

We have one of the worst healthcare systems in the developed world. "What comes next" doesn't matter when most alternatives would be better.

It's called lifestyle creep. Housing and transportation are the two most impactful items, which can scale from $20k/yr to $20m/yr smoothly.

As much as I agree with investing alongside your values, I don't think holding shareholders criminally liable for the companies they own fits alongside my concept of justice. Reasons why I'm against shareholder criminal liability

Boeing is becoming a national embarrassment. We discuss this ad nauseam every time a post about them makes it to the front page. I think this is a sign that their reputation is beginning to be worth less, and more people in the system are

A tip to those playing: You don't have to wait for the enemy to attack before you go again. You can spam your attacks. Combat pauses while you answer the question so take your time doing the math, but you want to select your next at

I like Intel's aggressive pricing against entry/mid level GPUs, which hopefully puts downward pressure on all GPUs. Overall, their biggest concern is software support. We've had reports of certain DX11/12 games failing

Genes that promote improved written communications could have been selected for even if you use cuneiform as the starting timeframe you are considering. Of course that isn't the real starting time. Cave paintings are 40k years old.

It's actually very common to fine manufacturers for negative externalities. We even tax some manufacturers for some negative externalities. For example, we have a federal tax on cigarettes that pay for some health programs.

I agree "beginning to" is the wrong phrase. After all, Pokemon is 25 years old and among the most popular fictional worlds. I actually mean they are increasing their consistency in being able to successfully export media.

I think one reason that Japanese fiction is beginning to see pickups in western audiences is because Japanese companies are improving their skills at exporting culture to the west. One aspect of this is translation, where they spent decade

I agree with that statement for this specific model. Maybe it's enough for lethal force, but probably less lethal than a kitchen knife. However larger and more powerful versions are possible. I think the lawmakers are correct in cla

I think the primary benefit of an electromagnetic coil gun in an environment like Japan would be the capability to build one using off the shelf and unmonitored equipment. In the US it would be much easier to generate 3d printed guns, beca
