if they owe debt, they may not be legally able to open source their software, since it could still theoretically be sold to someone to pay off debts. is there an expert in bankruptcy law that knows for sure?

yeah, be aware that many things you buy today depend on some cloud service that may go away. for example, a computer system that routinely checks for updates will hopefully still function if the update server goes away. and you can always

My work machine uses my complete email address as a user machine (this was a done by someone in the IT department). Vim gets confused when I use the `gf` command to open a path that contains an '@' character in it.

Also, contracting out the menial labor makes Waymo's labor practices look much better. They can tell their engineers that all employees make a living wage and get excellent health insurance. When the actual labor is done by part-timer

I did a little work on a C API for Skia a long time ago. We didn't have a good use case at the time, so the project was dropped.

I still can't justify spending more than about $500 on a phone when the perfectly good Pixel 8a is available. I'm still using my Pixel 6a and will probably continue until it fails or the battery life gets really bad.

I'm so glad I use Go more than C++ these days. In Go, all values are always zero-initialized if you don't explicitly assign a value. If you need a constructor, you write a regular function that returns an explicitly assigned obj

I've been using Bitwarden for a few years. It seems to do everything I need, and is cross-platform. I have a soft spot in my heart for `pass` ( http://www.passwordstore.org/ ), but it's a pain to access it from my

This looks like one of the earlier prototype ships, when they were still working out the tile geometry, but still also wanted to do a dry run of stacking it.

I always wondered how far technology can go without advanced metallurgy. Clearly steam engines require good metallurgy, but the spinning jenny and the flying shuttle don't, do they? How much would those advances have changed the Roma

I would like to see Mr Musk removed from decision-making positions at Tesla and SpaceX. He is making both companies, which have much to be proud of, look bad. If he wants to kill Twitter, that's fine by me. I prefer a more decentrali

I agree with most of this. I end up with a lot of sh 'make all' sh 'make test' In my `Jenkinsfile`, but there's not a great way to test things locally.

I agree. I also really like writing software that builds HTML to be served as a static page. E.g. https://gist.github.com/HalCanary/61276afbab042e204e54268f6a... Then that complexity is hidden from the client.

if the nocopy flag is set on a font, Chrome will not embed that font into a PDF when you do "print to PDF". instead, the shapes are used to create a type3 font. This is a way the author can get the vector shape of the glyphs wit
