The car can be in drive, neutral, or reverse, the light can be red, green, yellow, or broken, the seatbelt can be off or on. That's 24 states.

IIRC Dan Luu had a post about this: sites do catch a lot of this but there's just so much out there that they can't catch it all, not without accidentally flagging genuine reviews and getting everyone mad at them.

The guide lists four different GUI frameworks and the comments (so far!) have listed two more.* None of them really have claim to being the good "default" (except maaaaaaaaybe tkinter) and all of the "GUI-knowledge" is f

Hi! I've done extensive work in both TLA+ and Alloy. My advice is to pick something small and just run with it. It takes some time to learn either, and the better you get, the more easily you'll be able to apply it to even small s

No, it's a dumb mistake, I was thinking of the number of subgraphs of the N-node graph. I'll fix it.

The former, though it grows a little slower than Ack(N). If I read the paper write, they showed that an 18-state Petri Net has a worst case reachability problem on the order of Ack(3), and then every six states you add, n goes up by one. So

Unrelated but the coolest thing I discovered while researching this piece was that Petri Net reachability is decidable but Ackermann-complete. ACK-COMPLETE is a thing. That's wild.

You raise good points! Ultimately the technical distinction between a specification and programming language comes down to the existence or not of a compiler. Imagine if Python came out in 1960, but without anybody building a Python interpr

TLA+ and PlusCal are specification languages, not programming languages. Spec languages have their own ur-languages: TLA+ is from the LTL dynasty, Alloy and Event-B are from Z, PRISM is CSP I think?

Neat! Microsoft has been trying to mainstream stuff like this recently: Excel now has an "import table from image" button and Powertoys has a built-in OCR widget.
