I don't get it either. Great exit for Slack though, which has done nothing in terms of its stock price since IPO. Slack doesn't really have a moat, and they're slowly getting eaten up by Teams and other companies like RingCen

There are some merits to AWS, I can agree with that, and there comes a point where a startup outgrows baremetal / cookie cutter VPS-es, but I disagree with "AWS is trivial" and that it takes a day or two to get things set up.

> AWS gives you all the things you'd need to scale, without heavy up-front costs A startup doesn't need AWS right off the bat. Planning for scale right from the beginning is a way to quickly bleed $. Of course, if you have VC m

Standups are also for people who like the illusion of control that comes with knowing what everyone is working on and having a say in every single decision/work.

Our team doesn't do daily standups as everyone pretty much knows what other people are working on. There's communication on Slack. There's a list of issues and/or roadmap items that are assigned. Then again, we have a sm

A little late here. I don't think having TikTok/WeChat banned is a big issue for China unfortunately. Let's say this escalates and Apple, Nike, Starbucks etc are all banned from China in 'reciprocity', and the US st

FB and Messenger itself are just not great products anyway when it comes to social media and messaging. Even if they weren't banned, users in China will just use WeChat, Weibo etc that are built specifically and tailored for them. It&#

Wouldn't this embolden other countries to ban US made apps or tech unless they 'sell' a stake to their local companies? EU for example.

Right. How are these terms 'racially loaded'? The concept of masters and slaves have been a part of humanity for a long time in many different cultures and countries. Great that they're working on this, but how about them eng

You don’t need 1.7m LOC to build a simple app that works well over different network conditions. Speaking of garbage, looks like most of the 1.7m LOC on Messenger was actually garbage, now that they’ve literally thrown most of away.

I have had my mid-2012 RMBP since 2012 and I haven't had to repair it yet (I might be an outlier). I'm hoping to trade in my 2012 and get the 16" and have it last another 7 years.
