This. Just hit some random shit on Meetup.com that looks interesting which bridges the gap to the real world. Online social is a complete shit show. You’re spending time with peoples outward persona not real people.

Crappy email support - I mean really bad. Don’t invert layers properly. No electrical test. Drill accuracy problems. Nope. JLC every time here. Never a problem.

This is one that gets me every time. ”oh we’ll just roll out our shit in middle-of-nowhere-west-1c if it all goes to crap” . First time someone does that DR drill they find out there’s a core service missing they have built their entire em

4TB is a huge amount of data. And it’s costly to keep data spinning. 4TB storage an in apple device is going to set you back a lot of money for example. Not everyone has a NAS or the ability to run one and even more importantly to back it u

It should be but isn’t. Most of the abstractions are trying to add an immutability layer over something that isn’t immutable and is very definitely knee deep in locks, state and other difficult to resolve problems which compromise it entire

My main “personal” computer is a 9th gen ipad these days but for dev stuff I use a bottom end M1 mac mini with 8GB of RAM. This runs VScode absolutely fine but seeing as I mostly write Go on it, I don’t really need the full weight of visual

I’ve used it for 22 years at this point. I still don’t know how to use more than the basics. I think you settle into a comfortable zone where you know enough and stop looking for progression. In my case that was fairly early on. What makes

I’ve tried all of them so far. The standard gen 2 AirPods are the best by far. The new 3rd gen ones won’t stay in my ears. Pros are uncomfortable and lack bass. 2nd gen are perfect. I listen to everything from classical to metal to hard dan

Same age as you approximately. The killer problem is velocity is the only metric that matters these days to the whipmasters. We sacrifice quality for this and that’s what’s really hurting us now. No one is seeing this because we’ve forgotte

They are perfectly stable machines for running batch jobs. I have had one running a bunch of build automation as a jenkins slave for about 9 months now. Never skipped a beat. It just works and the thing is damn fast. If it’s doing it offlin

It is until someone leaves you 4TB of them to deal with. Where do you even start? I am a big proponent of not leaving my kids a pile of trash to sift through. See my other comment on this matter for background.

That’s quite possible. I have around 150 historical photos i.e. over 100 years old which depict family life in Switzerland in the 1800s. I will look into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think this is a resolution argument. Data should be curated carefully and reduced in resolution as it gets older. If you’re never going to look at it, it’s probably not worth keeping. As per photos you don’t need 11 pictures of those muff

Yeah 10 episodes down a hole of anime season and you find the last ones don’t have English dubs resulting in an impending shit show to deal with because no one bothered to release it or there are no seeds for single episodes. Then there’s t

That’s why I don’t pirate stuff. I don’t want to hoard it and keep it. I just want to use it once and be done with it. The only exception is content I create. With a couple of minor exceptions that works well for me. Historically i hoarded

Having replaced the HV transformer on a tek 465 I would suggest buying another one that already works and using your current one as a parts mule. It’s fairly difficult to get the thing out as you have to go as far as removing the entire CRT
