What do you want to do exactly? Do you want to build an app to help people do A/B testing? It might be worth trying to get in touch with someone like Patrick McKenzie. His username here is patio11 and his blog is http://www.kalzumeus.com .

You could have a look at http://celeryproject.org/ I've not used it so I'm not entirely sure it'll cover your needs, but I keep hearing good things about it.

Has anyone here been to this in the past? If so, how did you find it and is it worth going to?

I really have to disagree here. I think this is absolutely the wrong attitude to have towards the design community. If someone came to this community and asked to build them an app for free they would get shut down. Instead of putting up $3

This seems like a good option too, but if you've found a name you really want then why not send an email and find out if you can get the .com first? You have little to lose.

One thing to note with Django is that its documentation is excellent. It is often held up as a model for how good open source documentation can be.

I am primarily a designer/interface developer (I moonlight as a Django coder). I use: Inkscape for design. Gedit for coding (+ a couple of plugins... I like my IDE to be as simple as possible). Verb for project management ( http://verbapp.c

People often ask me how to learn more about building web apps and I give similar advice (although I only talk about finishing projects, not culling them). So many of us have a lot of ideas. We get excited about some and start building them.

If you have a domain with something to do with giving recommendations (sharing/favourites/popular), even loosely related (or even so far removed it works) then let me know. I've been struggling with this one.
