I needed a new headphone so I read a lot of reviews. It's amazing how much reviews are about the looks while sound quality is the main concern. I bought an Audio Technica ATH-M40x. These are monitor headphones for studio work. That

I've been doing webdevelopment for almost 15 years. And I think little has changed. Yes now we have transparency, animation, dropshadows, simple Ajax, and so on. But in the end we are still dealing with the same simple request and buil

Serious question: am I right when I think the first thing homeless people need is a place[1] to call their private home? [1] tent, cabin, whatever provides enough shelter. Edit: note the 'private'. Some people think shelter is eno

The game FUEL is a great example. The game covers 14,400 km² but doesn't repeat itself. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_(video_game)

I'm sorry to be that guy, but a small note to all webdevs on Hackernews: please make sure to skip all bloated and hip Javascripts. Because not all visitors have the latest and fastest devices. This great article is unfortunately unread

There is a lot more going on in the Netherlands. People start riding a bike when they are 2 years old. So everybody knows how fragile you are on a bike. Most roads cars and cyclist share are 30 km/h roads. You need to have lights while

I always liked the music in Wipeout. It gives speed to the game. For those interested, check out Tim Wright ( http://coldstorage.org.uk )

That's why this is working in Amsterdam. There is no space to park your car. Parking will cost you up to 8€ an hour. Most streets are narrow so they will get jammed. All in all going by bike is much faster. That's why this is work

I think this is mostly a management issue. People dont like changes. So as long some changes are not forced nothing is going to happen. And if a company only uses rakes to dig holes imho you can either try to convince management that using

The movie 'In Time' (2011) has a nice view on this subject. Only the rich will be able to live forever but some of them discover they get tired of living. I'm not sure living forever in this world will be that much fun.

No. It's not only about the language but also about the IDE. Visual Studio is one of the best. Using it with ReSharper is amazing. And why not setup an iOs project with a portable core project so you could build an Android/Windows

Well it's easy to create nice looking 3D models (like the renders in the article). But designing a real car is something completely different. Aerodynamics, weight, space, it's all what costs a lot of R&D. I think this is why

Can someone explain to me how ISO on a digital camera works? Are several pixels combined (the resolution lowered)? I always think it's odd to have ISO settings on a digital camera.

The problem here is patents and the cost of R&D. The only reason why 3D printing became main stream is because some patents expired and printers are being sold as kit instead of a product.
