You’re right but your service could be exposed with a public API and still have your library public. I think the best of both worlds is to have an open-source library and a service. People can choose the one they prefer. And you can still m

There’s definitely been improvements in cryptocurrencies since Bitcoin was launched. I’m a big fan of Cardano for example which is led by a scientific community and not apes posting diamond hands and rockets. Sadly it seems like the network

I feel you 100%. The timing of this post is near perfect with what is happening in my life. I run my own web server with email hosting for clients. I’ve spent the last few years doing everything I can on the deliverability side but with no

I’d be careful about premature optimization. If you can write your code 2x faster by using jQuery, by all means do it. Eventually, if needed, you could rewrite your JS to be free of jQuery, but it would not be a priority for me. Dev speed i

Has anyone noticed how having books in your background on Zoom calls seems to have become a status symbol? I see it all the times recently.

I might argue that it’s their recipe to success. Their UIs, from Amazon.com to AWS are pretty intuitive and content-oriented. It’s their style and it works for them.

Text as an interface definitely has great potential. But users will not learn all the commands for your little application. The author uses examples of MS Excel and Slack which are used by millions every day. I love the concept of the comma

From an engineer perspective there is a learning opportunity that can’t be underestimated. If you have free time to build it’s always interesting how much you can grow by doing it yourself. However, if you are working for a startup and time

I had a similar client early in my career. Working for him was a love/hate relantionship. He tripled my hourly rate telling me my time was highly valuable but then had very high standards and aggressive timelines.
