As the U.S. loses political importance and mindshare, sites will stop using U.S. units. Conversion to metric will eventually happen. As for language, I'm kind of split. On one hand language is a tool for communication that becomes more

I'm actually rather impressed with humanity's ability to standardize. It's perfectly natural (and in many cases desirable) for multiple parties to go through that "painful period" with different solutions that will

You're refusing to accept the simple reality that professionals couldn't figure out how to put a computer on the floor. And that's how Apple lost an entire market!

As one of the teens that used to be a nuisance, I agree. The old lagoon had a certain magic to it, though. Even if you'd usually leave it both burnt from sudden surges of warm water and bloody from knife-sharp lava.

Who wouldn't like to visit Three Mile Island's own Green Lagoon. For that healthy glow. Makes you positively luminous.

The article is somewhat misleading. The 50MW number refers to power provided by each borehole, not an entire plant. For example, the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Station [1] generates around 450MW using 30 holes. [1] https://en.w

Meh? This affects those of us that live in this country quite a lot. What is it that you find so odd or different about our politics from the rest of the world?

I see nothing ironic about me not wanting government backdoors built into my phone. I'm quite capable of forming my own opinion and I don't care about "public opinion". Especially in this case since I find the public opi

Probably part of it, but for me, the somewhat uncanny valley-ish non-standard look and behaviour of Swing UIs (and AWT before that) is the biggest turn off. Using java apps on the desktop feels a little like using a keyboard with mittens.
