Been there won’t do it again. I now have three laptops, two iPads and two iPhones on my desk all day though. Which is a complete fucking pain. Some days I wish I did something else for a living.

I have an MSc in microelectronics. All transferable professional knowledge could have been self learned in about six months from a book. They didn’t teach us how to learn. They didn’t give us any guidance on that front at all in fact. It wa

That debt is only part of the student finance picture. It’s difficult paying off a credit card, overdraft, commuting, potentially car insurance and rent at the same time. That £20 is a fairly significant amount of cash when you’re in that p

Well realistically you tend to start seeing patterns after a bit. Then you end up redrawing everything as those patterns in your head. Then you develop an intuitive model of what is sensible and what is not. This is not something they teach

Mine was terrible value for money. Went to a red brick in the UK and studied electrical engineering in the early 90s. My first job on the market was a start from scratch experience. I learned almost nothing of value at university and my per

I had a similar idea which involved a large amount of gerbils in a giant wheel. They can convert sunflower seeds (which are of course solar powered) into energy 24/7. Thanks to your stroke of genius instead of using a generator and cha

It does make sense to have 128 bit computers. Consider memory mapped sparse datasets. 18PB looks like a whole lot of address space now but in 50 years, who knows…

Second hand Herman Miller Aeron and Amazon basics foot rest. Can’t beat the combo. Just make sure you get the right size chair for you. Late 40s 5’9” here. Also farting on an Aeron is a whole new life experience.
