I'm the opposite for hardcore engineers. An in-shape, muscular person looks like they have dedicated a non-trivial amount of time to not software. I presume most people that look like that just see writing software as "a job"

That's because that's what society wants. People pay for apps or watch ads to get their selfie app. SpaceX lands 3 boosters back on earth and fewer people watch than daily active Snapchat users.
