This looks sweet! Exactly what I was looking for. One tip though, the "Start course" button is so grey that I thought it was unclickable. http://i.imgur.com/CsBRWMB.png

Is rust very geared towards writing network applications (like Go is to some extent) and lacking in other areas, or would you recommend it as a general language? I'm always curious about new languages, but my needs are mostly in maths&

"Applicants must pay 195,000 roubles to enter the competition" This seems rather bizarre... ~$5500 cannot simply be a symbolic sum to deter idiots.

Oh, I didn't know betfair had an API, that's interesting. Do you know if there exists an open source implementation for any languages, or do you roll your own?

I wish this was possible, but ~80% of my friends are reachable almost exclusively through facebook. I too use facebook only for the chat because of this.

Interesting.. I hope the generator function is non reversible? I.e., if you know the password ("qnQTs0-QO-9osX-me4)M" in this case) and your policy, could you find the master password?

It might have been repeated ad nauseam for ever (at least in Norway), but I think there's some truth to the suggestion that we just have it too good. As someone graduating university with a masters degree in CS soon, and seeing the ridiculo

Norway has unions for IT-workers. The union base pay of around 470k NOK (~52K GBP, ~80K USD) is pretty much guaranteed straight out of university if you have a masters degree. In general I think it is a good thing, although I dislike the bi

I don't really see what BitMessage provides over TorChat for example, other than being able to deliver messgages when the sender is offline. It's a much easier protocol, and much less that can go wrong.

Absolutely. You can even run it of an old WRT54GL with OpenWRT or the like if you have one in a dusty cabinet.

How would you discern what is popular and what is not(that is, the "upvotes" of reddit/HN)? Or did you mean only machine learning?

Good point. I guess I'm partly missing the point of the competition, and missed the fact that the entry could be anything(?) and does not have to do with something directly Netflix-related (either customer facing or operations).

It really depends on your usecase. I've been hosting simple Django-based websites for clients (think 500-1000 uniques a day) for some years, and couldn't be happier really. There has not been a single issue, and the prices for that kind of
