that was very well written. "It got to the point that some papers had no authors, and had apparently written themselves. So it goes. No longer with the firm." slightly vonnegut-inspired?

i think you're over-estimating the abilities of the average cs grad if you believe they all understand compilers.

the "sdk" is open source, but flex builder isn't (and they managed to break stuff that worked fine in eclipse). and have fun trying to get the flex builder plugin to work on linux, or even get the sdk working completely on linux.

removing the paper doesn't necessarily mean that at all, he probably just wants finish editing it and getting peer feedback before he releases it officially

i don't know anything about investing, but why would VCs invest in a company if they only expect to just get their money back? can a VC investing a series C or D get more than just what they invested?

a player's APM isn't directly related to their skill, but all the Korean professionals are quite fast (300 and above). there are so many things going on in the game, you really do need that much speed to play professionally and compete

the metric came originally from a program called BWChart ( http://bwchart.teamliquid.net/ ), and calculated APM based on all keystrokes and mouse clicks. So for the first 30 seconds of a game, it's trivial for anyone to have an APM of above

this doesn't make sense. the loss of privacy isn't worth a potential gain in the quality of discussion. look at any public group or announcement on facebook: lack of anonymity does not prevent people from being ignorant jackasses

i think deconstruction is more often classified as a post-structuralist technique[1]. it has similarities to post-modernism beyond the 'post', but it is different. [1]barry's intro to critical theory http://books.google.com/books?id=SNy26b

i think the author misses the point about itunes, whether purposely or not, like so many others: it's not the functional capabilities of itunes apps vs webapps, but the financial capabilities

it would seem to me that as a competitor to them, it's obvious that google would pay (at least a little) attention to gabriel's blog. of course, i'm sure getting mentioned in a NYT blog didn't hurt, either.
