You want to architect. Thats it. You can handle the 50krps that you wont get from HN from a dedicated box.

Correct AWS gives you availability zones. It is easy to spin up a cluster over them and have little or no downtime. But a burning data centre is just one problem. Another is e.g. the USE1 issue AWS had. AZ didnt help here. Having compute in

To me DO is a cloud. It is pricey (for performance) and convenient. It is possibly a wiser bet than AWS for a startup that wants to spend less developer (read expensive!) time on infra.

If it costs too much it is also a bad idea. Why? Because that money can be spent on other safety.

Could they have not hit V1 but decided to take off anyway to minimise damage (i am guessing the reverse thrust might be impossible to stop?)

That is like using the LLM like a book. Sure do that! But human still needs to understand and make the decisions.

Mostly small companies. Not really startups as HN would understand the term, but some tried to be. But now working for big (but sub-faang) tech.

Problem with this is people will accept tech debt and slow query's so long as the LLM can make sense of it (allegedly!). So the craft is lost. Making that optimised query or simplifying the solution space. No one will ask "should

Email was the killer app I think that showed everyone how damn useful the internet is. Then Hotmail showed how convenient email can be. What is the AI version of that? Maybe code generation. Maybe.

Fun. While there will be no "executable" code that you cant find in the JS, there is potential for comments in code to reveal e.g. employee names (not a big deal) and maybe secrets and possibly profanity! If I were Apple I'd

I think a quicker pivot (job wise) would likely be Python web development. They already know Python. Then layer on LLMs when doing that job (with more "runway")
