I did an apprenticeship in software engineering in Switzerland. Afterwards I did not go to university. My experience was positive. I did not make a lot of money during my apprenticeship but that was before I was 20 years old and still lived

Note that this is also available in book form, if you rather read about it: https://www.amazon.com/Mind-Numbers-Science-Flunked-Algebra/...

If all you need is Compute, DNS and/or S3 then exoscale.ch is worth a look. I dare say they are the best cloud service Switzerland currently has to offer. cloudscale.ch is a competitor but they are a very young company.

In my personal use I found the overhead to be negligible. But then I've never used it for a project that really had to scale. For simple CRUD applications SERIALIZABLE is great, because you basically don't have to worry about conc

I feel the same. I am as happy with my Apple products as I've ever been. That does not mean they are perfect of course. It merely means I like them.

I didn't mean to recommend Alan Watts in general, though I generally like him. I just think Zen can be a bit hard to get into without some introduction and I consider Watts' decent.

For me it was Zen, which I heard is in some ways quite similar to Stoicism. A good start is Alan Watts' "The Way of Zen": https://www.amazon.com/Way-Zen-Alan-W-Watts/dp/0375705104

The extra 30 minutes of travel hardly matter. I'd say it's the fact that Zürich has more available talent.

That's not at all how I understand it, though I am not a lawyer. Art. 38 basically says that the Nachrichtendienst can intercept data, unless sender and receiver are Swiss (those are indeed defined broadly). Paragraph 2 of Art. 38 basi

Sure, still a vote about trust though. My point being that you are asking people if they trust a certain government entity or not. Apparently the trust is there.

That's the thing isn't it. If I don't trust my government to follow the law, then it doesn't matter what surveillance law we have. The whole vote was a vote of confidence as a result.

They most certainly do need a court order. See Art. 40 and Art. 41. of the NDG.

My elementary school in Switzerland actually did ban homework in the 90s as part of an experiment. I can't speak about my schoolmates, but personally I wasn't too happy as a child. As soon as I hit high school we were bombarded wi
