The amount of critical CVEs released in a week is a metric.

In the past three months I've shipped more code than I have in years. New php extension https://github.com/hparadiz/ext-gnu-grep A Demo showing how to stream webrtc to KDE Wayland overlay. https://githu

I had to convert a build pipeline from just one linux distro to multiple and then get arm64 going. Not the most difficult thing in the world but quite annoying when there's 100 binaries and a complex dep tree with lots of moving pieces

Your diatribe is irrelevant. This account is my real name. I have nothing to hide. The metrics speak for themselves. We just had a week with 7 major zero days announced for pretty much every major OS and architecture. Reality doesn't c

It's fun watching other languages orms be 10 years behind in design. Your example is a common anti pattern from PHP orms 15 years ago.

Just woke up from half my nights sleep to see what HN is talking about at 1 am pst on a Friday. Oh look more useless arguing. People who do things care about the doing more than how the sausage was made. I do not care how software gets buil

If a studio on it's last legs is required to service a failing product instead of working on a new one the studio will simply close and not comply. That's what tends to happen with forced regulations like this.

What? This a mandate in law that requires a company to do work in order to comply. Studios will spin out LLCs for a game so that if it fails it doesn't end up as a liability. Unintended consequence: more dead games.

Metrics, profilers, architecture! Use AI to get back to basics! Wanna prove a technique is better? Use AI to make a benchmark! Learn by experimentation! That is my advice to juniors. At the end of the day AI is writing code and there may be

Yes. Valve has done a ton of work here because it's required to be able to run x86 games on a Steam Frame which has an ARM cpu.

WSL 1.0 was doing something like that. Doing syscall translation in real time. Eventually edge cases forced them to abandon that architecture and now it's just a VM.

Close ups of the tail fins and the hull exterior have little hex tiles covering the entire tail fin assembly. There's also different sizes of tile. Exciting to see if that will be enough structural reinforcement.

Why do you think costs will go up when the competition is increasing while hardware prices per compute cycle go down? That's the part I don't get.

I'm watching people host models on things like LangSmith and OpenRouter for a fraction of the cost you are talking about. We have other people reporting their M4 Macs providing them with performance close to what they get with ChatGPT

I've played with SD plenty. CPU even becomes manageable at low resolutions. But uh CPU/GPU is starting to blur now with these new AMD inference CPUs with built in GPUs. And ARM based machines like Macs. I wish more people on HN we

The problem with Plex is that is has a very opinionated system that ignores how things are in real life. One example I can point to is Stargate SG-1. Episode 1 is a two parter and depending on who you ask it's either Episode 1 and 2 or
