If your program has the ability to interact with remote users it must give those users access to the source in some way. If you use it in a way where you don't have users, fine. But if someone else uses your source unmodified and your

Haven't you heard? Anyone supporting Stallman against charges of thought-crime are not worth listening to. It's all over twitter; FSF is now a broken organization because they think people can change, believe people are multi-dime

Wait, what? I don't know rust, at all, but why is path freed? I thought rust didn't have GC? > let path = CString::new(filename.as_str()).unwrap().as_ptr(); Is one of those functions calling free behind the scenes?

Because the "diversity and inclusion" camp aren't pragmatic, they are dogmatic. The cancelling is more important than the actual work being done.

I don't understand why the backlash should be inevitable, or why it should be stronger than a retort.

> On the other hand, Stallman has called for the killing of babies with Down Syndrome. He did not say that. You make it sound like he's suggesting babies actually born should be killed. No. He's supporting the current practice

I applaud the effort of hoping for self-reflection. This will likely gain very little traction here. Those engaging in cancelling don't see themselves as the "baddies." They view themselves as above reproach.

What your talking about is as if Stallman had decided to layoff everyone who is "woke" after being hired. That's not even close to what is happening. Outsiders are asking the board to resign over a hiring decision.

Then go work at SFFSF (Stallman-Free Free Software Foundation), name not final. You aren't being force to interact with the FSF.

I believe the water authority could offer to purchase the bond (and then write it off once they own it). It would be up to the current owner to decide if they are willing to sell.

No. Someone having opinions you don't like isn't reason enough to ruin their life. Put me in the anti-rms-open-letter camp. We all interact with people that have strange opinions everyday, we just usually don't hear them, let

This misconception needs to die. The government doesn't borrow money. The government doesn't need your money. The government prints money. They could stop accepting taxes tomorrow and still be able to keep spending. They print the

That's not gonna happen. Right now the government/fed essentially "rolls" their debt. They sell $30,000 in treasuries for $29,999, and in 3 months time sell $30,001 in treasuries for $30,000 to buy back the old one. (num

Perhaps if things get way out of control, but even then not entirely. People need money to pay taxes. Individuals wishing to avoid jail is a great way to ensure a large majority of the population uses your currency.

Oh, I see. So blocking still executes asynchronously (perhaps spawning a thread or something, so the program can continue on), but setting eventing will use an event-based mechanism?
