Totally agree with you on academia needing this. I know a bunch of people (including myself) who are interested in trying new ways of authoring papers, theses etc - whether it's MarkDown, latex etc. But once you need to collaborate with som

There have been several data science/analytics courses etc offered based on R lately, on Coursera, Udacity, etc. Have anyone had good experiences with any of them? I would also love to see a similar course based on iPython/Pandas etc.

If people have made this mistake, is there a way of getting it out of the public archive (short of shutting down the repository), or will it forever sit there, part of the indelible history?

Most of the comments are discussing interruptions in general, and could have been posted on any article about programmer working situation etc, but I think some of the most interesting in this blog post is the attempt to measure cognitive/m

Let me know if you want to discuss further - I've lot's of ideas, but not able to make most of it happen by myself. For example, here are a bunch of (unfinished) notes about an open alternative to Google Scholar, and open social API to shar

As long as these PDFs are exposed publicly (and linked to, which a tweet with or without #pdftribute will take care of), they will mostly be indexed by Google Scholar, which does a decent job of extracting metadata using heuristics etc. Of
