I feel like I'm looking at a list of favorite celebrities in a country I've never heard of. I have no idea who any of these people are or what they might be famous for.

I think you're making it more complicated than it needs to be. Invested heavily (time) in SO -> more likely to continue to invest in new SO features

I don't think this piece is very well-argued. For one thing, I've been trying out a new android phone (my iPhone is on the back burner but I doubt I will be making a permanent switch) and the signal quality does seem to be a little better w

I don't know if it's a good thing that some countries handle things more stupidly than others. If the differences were value-free you might have a really strong claim there, but the good side is vanishingly small in the sea of colossal buff

It seems very unlikely to me that Apple would install advertising into their operating system or applications. It would be premature to guess that they would ever implement this patent.

Splitting with GNU and becoming un-Free are two totally different events. The reason for GNOME's formation has nothing to do with the current situation.

Nothing like getting angry at facts, it's true. People have been doing it throughout history and that's not going to change soon.

I guess this is good for people who are worried about what Google collects about them. Personally I feel there's a bit of a moral issue in doing something that would cause the system to break down if everyone did it. Also the page is uglier

Doesn't Jeff derive a significant portion of his personal income from the site? If so, I'd say mission critical is a good way to describe it.

To look at it another way, bars in general. On some level most services you can provide will be detrimental to some of the people consuming them. It's hard to say where to draw the line. But I think based on how heavily regulated gambling i

As far as I know, Google doesn't have ads in toolbar or in Chrome (beyond those which would be displayed by the internet ordinarily). I have to say that these comments of yours are diminishing the standing of OpenDNS in my mind. There's not
