Interestingly, it sounds a bit like you read an article in The Atlantic yesterday about chaos theory and the current state of the world[0]. But of course it's just fairly obvious to anyone who pays attention. I think that this kind of

South Texas, so you also need to speak Spanish. If you paid equipment operators here $200K+/year, you'd have to hire security to control the crowd of people beating down your door to apply for a job.

Would you rather work at a McDonald's mopping up puke for $14/hour, driving heavy equipment in a heat index of 120 degrees for $20/hour, or anything an MBA might be expected to do?

Just make sure and get him into a competitive preschool since I'm sure recruiters will be looking at that by the time he's applying for a job.

I worked at a company that at one point was actually open minded and cared more about the work than a lot of trivialities (till it grew up, got acquired by private equity, and became an empire of bullshit), and there was an employee who was

And for some reason it's a mystery why people are having few or no kids these days.

As I get older, I become ever more sure that I do not want children. In younger days, I would have said it was more of a feeling, but the more I think about it, the more I can articulate reasons, many of them worldly/material, for that

I used to think that inequality explained everything, but perhaps I've grown up a bit and now I think it just explains most things. I attended a lecture by Robert Sapolsky some years ago and he was quite big on studying stress response

I once needed to haul a bunch of tile and my dad was out of town with his truck that I normally borrowed at the time. My grandmother offered the use of her minivan and I balked that there was no way it could handle the weight. We looked it

I believe the implications are mass unemployment, but given that I've seen approximately zero progress in robotics in my adult life (I guess the robot vacuums are a bit better than my Bush-era Roomba), I suppose the burger-flippers wil

I think back 10 years and I was pretty pessimistic about where we would be now, but I think things have mostly turned out worse than I expected. I can’t imagine being a child these days with the increasingly bleak future they’re facing, and

I don't believe costs will decrease because they never have in my lifetime, and I don't think I can be called a young adult any more. I'd be happy if they did though.

I suspect wisdom is not having children when you can't afford to take care of them. Just ensuring that my own medical care is met is a challenge - to add a couple kids to that equation is a terrifying notion. School and housing certain

What do you mean have at least $100K? Like in one of their savings accounts? You can get 5% APY right now from Wealthfront in their savings, so you'd have to forgo a lot of interest to get that extra 0.625% over Citi's credit card

I was literally in a meeting this morning where a co-worker mentioned he had reached out to Cloudflare a few days ago to ask about buying services and has not gotten a response. Certainly not a great start.
