I know nothing about the Thai or Vietnamese languages, but it seems like all their proper nouns have "Thai" or "Viet" in them.

This addresses supply (cost) but not demand. There won't be enough demand for known bad food, unless it's a tourist trap.

There's a waiter standing outside trying to get people to come in, and I don't mean the reservation / front desk person. No way is it worthwhile for a restaurant with actually good food to pay someone to advertise outside.

This is how I think of it too. In a popular location, the restaurants won't necessarily be the best, but they'll be better on average. Also, compare any big city to its adjacent areas. Like everyone knows LA has better food than S

I used to try random restaurants that don't look good, then I realized that they usually are in fact not good.

Yes, but going by that, most messaging services advertised as "E2EE" are already not E2EE by default. You trust them to give you the correct public keys for peer users, unless you verify your peers in-person. Some like iMessage di

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense in the JVM or Golang runtime where you're already paying for indirection. My first guess for why JS didn't do greenthreading is simplicity of implementation. I know that threads are expensive to sched

Thanks for the links, Steve, good to hear from someone on the Rust team. Somehow I automatically assumed Rust's executors sorta acted like a runtime, but now that you mention it, no reason they have to intercept syscalls. Anyway, I

Did Apple themselves actually call it that? On the debut, I think they only called it the "true depth camera system" https://youtu.be/aEoVcYQ8caM?si=bf2Xxv7VeFPONVyO&t=482 Scanning through, it was pretty silly

Uh nvm, a lot of the ones I was thinking of are natural gas. The hydrogen ones are mostly in China. I've also seen many Toyota Mirais on the road in California, but turns out their sales are poor nowadays.

Maybe if the passenger is literally wearing a suit, that's a suit. Or any shirt color besides white. And you can't get a flush of non-suited passengers.

I made a more poker-esque game that doesn't require any dice or other materials, cause my friend and I were waiting in line forever somewhere. You play as a buyer haggling with a seller over some shiny vase. Each player establishes a s

It'd be Golang if anything. Java might have too much overhead to be faster than C++ without negligence, but that's not because of the GC.

This one in particular was the perfect storm because it was an EV company during an EV bubble / govt subsidy frenzy, combined with the overall auto market being out of wack at the time, and pandemic-era extremely low rates.

Try it in the store. If it's anything like my 12 mini, the wide angle lens creates too much distortion to use for portraits. Occasionally I use it for landscape photos, but I wouldn't miss it much.

It's funny how iPads are marketed as laptop replacements, but everyone with an iPad has a laptop too. Especially the Apple fans who tell you it's a laptop replacement.
