This is also true for cryptocurrency. There's always a testnet, you use it whenever possible cause xact fees are high, but it never works the same as real.

Yeah, this has been tested every which way by now, the entire point of in-person work is to monitor employees. My manager told me outright that the only reason I can stay remote is, unlike most of the team, I didn't seem to "disap

"Best" for the most customers, even if it ticks off some relatively small group of people. They kill old games so they can make new ones and not have to outright do subscription models. Signing a petition doesn't cost anythin

Right, you consider the pros and cons and buy it. Everyone will always want every pro, but when tradeoffs have to be made, which features get the axe? I think they're already making the best tradeoffs. The video game industry is quite

You could call it a market inefficiency since the media would actually be worth the higher prices to people if they didn't have a way to pirate. So as long as piracy is technically not very hard, it'll always be relevant. Today, y

Yes. I would characterize a company that mainly generates revenue through ads as an ad company.

Of course nobody wants a game shut down, but they'll still buy online games knowing full well that they won't last forever. It's not much of a consideration.

I was thinking this too, but on second thought, I can't imagine Apple making Google the default for free under any circumstances. That's a ton of free referrals, in a way the best advertising slot that exists on an iPhone.

There's nothing uninformed about the above comment. The petition just says games, doesn't specify that they're singleplayer or anything like that. What the petitioner says on his own blog is separate.

Yeah, stuff like this is why I wouldn't feel the urge to play new video games even if I had time. Even if everything works fine, I don't want to wait on updates.

The petition is worded generally. Just says video games should stay in a working state. The comment above talks about a remote killswitch in particular, which suggests a portion of the game that doesn't reasonbly require online access

It has. Very few consumers care about this, otherwise LTS guarantees would be a way to boost sales, or publishers would build more of a reputation around that. If there were actually a regulation as proposed, it'd be "tyranny of t

Lightning is the only charging cable that manages to stop working after a while, plus it has some kind of DRM bs. It can rest in pieces, in many cases literally.

The biggest defining factor is they have a lot of spare time to push dumb agendas and don't listen to people who have less time to deal with it. I'm not sure what a techbro is, thought it was just a techie who goes to the gym.

There are definitely fancier HOAs with bigger and nicer parks and common spaces than the others, and I don't think it's because they have different city rules.

I recently moved. Most of my new friends aren't from here, they came here for work, but they consider it their own city now and are part of the community. It's different in a "commuter city" like San Francisco. That mean

What single entity did you have in mind? An HOA will spend dues on parks, a regular city will spend taxes on parks. A luxury apartment will have common spaces or even activities. They make these expenditures because enough residents will pa

I remember the day in high school I saw a guy, who used to bully me and call me a nerd, playing multiplayer Minecraft on his laptop instead of talking to his buddies. Made me realize the bullies were right about one thing.
