A Max Payne parallel universe!! I would make myself into a zombie character. With super fast running and the ability to bite people. in any case, it sounds like this could actually be a little more fun. I give it a 50/50 chance of working

I take it from reading this and other posts that cutting my programming teeth by learning to code in gedit and the command line, sans dev tools, is a good approach then?

Yeah, I think it's a variation of the Chekov quote (I pulled it from the chekov's gun's wiki. That was the quote that stuck out to me the most from my classes in Uni).

When writing for publication, I enjoy pondering this quote: "If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be

It seems the community was largely expressing agreement with the poster, though. From past experiences with online communities, if you want to keep the community around [let alone high-quality], you listen to feedback from its members.

Or at least an explanation of what was changed and why. it would give a little more transparency to the site. And the same goes for link deletion, etc. It would be nice to know why such and such comment or submission was shelved (though som

What he's really talking about is chord progression (while he doesn't really say that, it's essentially the description of his first few paragraphs). Most university-level music classes discuss common chord progressions. As he notes, the I,

I would disagree, and say that proficiency in any given career is necessary, rather than just "being smart and sociable." And a valuable employee is a valuable employee. If they have ability, whether latent or developed, they have ability.

Agreed. I think this incident has been blown way out of proportion. I am disappointed it has received so much attention ... the news article doesn't even give voice or opportunity to comment to anyone other than the complainer in the story.

Where in the hell in that article is there any attempt to get the border agents' side of the story? For all we know, this is entirely fabricated. While it very well may be true, this is shoddy journalism at its finest. Take this sentence,

Ah that is very sad. I read Fahrenheit 451 in high school and absolutely loved it. One of my very favorite books. He will be missed. I suppose now would be a good time to expand my single-item Ray Bradbury collection.

I know i'm not really adding anything to this discussion by posting this, but I just want to say this thread here is an excellent analysis. If I could sum up the plight of newspapers in a few paragraphs, i would pick this and its few parent

Just to be clear, I don't think they're going to go under as a company (edit: financially). By "collapse," I mean they're going to lose their relevance. The overvaluing of their IPO (and I feel their stock is still overvalued) is just one s

I seriously think Facebook is going to collapse soon. It's so overhyped it's not even funny -- just look to their stocks to see a prime example. So many people are just itching to get away from it now that it can't last long. We'll see, of

I can't help but feel Facebook is on the way out. Probably not any time soon. But there is just a huge movement of people waiting for a good reason to leave. Perhaps the debacle that was the company's IPO will start the chain reaction that

So is the fact that you have a home as a child. I don't see that your argument holds water. The fact that you live where you live is pure genetics as well. Why don't you ship your money to starving ethiopians? If you're going to argue that,

I hate the term "the 1%" it's just a bunch of malarkey. Whether you got your money through savvy investing or hard work, it doesn't matter. What you earn, you should KEEP. I detest handouts, especially when someone tries to give them to me.
