Chatting with vibe coders on reddit, I can definitely tell.. although my hunch is that a lot of people "not smart" enough to learn to program will be entering the field calling themselves programmers. I think maybe they are projec

To be frank someone who picks python is not doing it because they want the best performance. Its either because its the only language they know or they just don't really care about performance and want to finish the project fast.

Pretty cool. I am a fan of everything Erlang. Managing large clusters of IOT devices running Beam sounds like a good idea not just because of fault tolerance but for hot swapping code.

Well luckily its illegal to do this in Europe due to the Digital Markets Act, so maybe the tiny minority can win .

That is understandable, most people are not technical but the few who has a need for it should have an option for it. As a developer I write apps for myself and I side-load them. Why take away my right to do so, just because other people ca

Eu has the Digital Markets Act and what google is doing is illegal in Eu. Gatekeepers must allow people to side-load software by regulation. Makes me think that google did this now since trump has been criticizing the DMA, so now they feel

As a digital nomad without permanent address I am happy to not have to change bank accounts every time I move. Thats it.

I don't think they spy on me more than a normal website does and I really don't have the need to use a web interface. Its not a problem as far as UX goes. Also as I wrote they do have a website, just not as feature rich.

The cache service is a database of sorts that usually stores key value pairs. The difference is in persistence and scaling and read/write permissions

My bank is revolut and Im very happy with them. Im a digital nomad and I can't keep making new bank accounts when I move to a new country. Their website is very limited and for account recovery only.

I need them for my bank and public transport. It sucks but I am locked in. Its a national security issue for Europe to rely on google or apple but seems politicians don't care

Nothing yet. Probably a new kind of model needs to be trained that can find injected prompts, sort if like an immune system for LLMs. Then the sanitized data can be passed to the LLM after. No real solution for it yet. I would be intereste

The more I read about google removing sideloading the more I feel like the internet has become an animal farm from George Orvell, and we are on one side of the fence. Are we on the farm or outside looking in?

Its fine, once institutions gobble up all the coins and the block reward disappears the blockchain can just stop. Bitcoin got eaten up by institutions.

I don't think a fan spinning is negative. The cooling is functioning effectively. Apple often lets the device throttle before it turns on the fans for "better ux" linux plays no such mind games.
