Live forever? No, I wouldn't like that at all. In many ways I think we prolong life without consideration for preserving the quality of life. Losing my mobility or my eyesight (both of which happened to my grandparents) would be a huge prob

I'm not one of those manic people with boundless energy. I was happy to put things off til another day. There was always more time to get around to doing/seeing/reading/watching/visiting whatever. But after a car accident 3years ago I reali

I had a similar experience with the platform. I was very excited, browsed through the APIs to check the required features were there and jumped in. It then took ages to get the right versions of SDKs/XCode and Titanium installed, which also

The Register has had some really good coverage of this plane over the past year: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/21/x37b_secret_launch_o... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/02/04/x37b_ski/ http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/03/07/

I don't think that's true. There a fork of delayed_job which does autoscaling of workers on Heroku and... it's written by a Heroku employee. It's regularly mentioned on the mailing list too. https://github.com/pedro/delayed_job/tree/autosc

I'm working on exactly this but specifically for photoblogs. It will be a hosted service that picks up new photos from a Dropbox directory, generates thumbnails, uploads to S3 and creates a draft post based on the EXIF data. I can then use

I like the Instagram (well, I liked it better when it wasn't so crashtastic) but I can't help feeling her talents would be wasted there since there's basically no web presence.

That page seems to redirect to an incredibly minimalist welcome page saying: Stripe Payment processing for developers Get in touch I think I'd need a bit more information before I'd even investigate them!

That looks very interesting. Receiving payments is such a huge hurdle for small projects outside of the U.S. (for example, PayPal doesn't provide Website Payments Pro in Ireland, banks are pretty difficult for new businesses, etc) Saasy

I totally agree. I recently wasted a whole month refactoring some code (not without permission) whilst working on a defect so that the 4 main UI's of our product had roughly the same code structure -- even if that code isn't actually shared

I'm working on code that's over 10 years old (Java) and it's grown organically throughout that period, meandering through whatever technology is trendy (Servlets -> JSP -> JSF -> Dojo). The problems have not gone away and are, i

Surely this is a community-wide iterative search and, although it can be annoying to keep up with, it should be seen as a good thing (unlike other communities which stagnate around one dominant concept)

That's very good to hear. I wonder, did you get any benefits from implementing the hResume microformat? Was it worth the effort (I don't see many tools using it)?

It's a shame there's still no decent PDF export option other than the less-than-ideal print-to-file route. I don't want to have to maintain yet another copy of my CV.
