This article was all kinds of awesome. Very rare that I get to see hardcore gangster stories on hacker news. And how can you beat a story about a drug dealer named "Little Rock"? Upvote.

Patents cost a LOT of money to enforce. The odds of you being sued are very low. People will be able to issue you a cease and desist order on the cheap, but the odds of it ever going before a judge are equally low. Business methods patents

I've heard that it takes 10 years to achieve true mastery of any craft. He said it took ten years to "become a success", but that isn't limited to just one company. Personally, I plan on trying and failing as many times as necessary over th

Paul is really cool man, don't worry about it. He'll probably respect the fact that you tried to make something more than anything. It's actually kind of hard to upset him. Frankly, he has a lot of money. It's going to take more than one er

Personally I think we should try to expand what we do with our community. We should do more in person meetups and hackathons. There is a lot of value in networking that shouldn't just be limited to those selected for ycombinator. We're a ni

This guy should write a book. We could use a modern "Psychology of Everyday Things", focused on software design. And no, Steve Kurg's book doesn't cut it.

I think the YC model wouldn't work for a company like M$ because there is way too much drama. Founders get into fights, startups make horrible paperwork mistakes and ideas and markets change all the time. There is way too much counseling an

My friend had a similar experience in india. I wonder how the same kind of soft well approach could be applied to startups? Perhaps by making sure you provide value for people with no pressure to buy? The methodology sure seems to work.

People have been saying that YCombinator and the general hackernews culture encourages people to work 80+ hours a week. I would like to put that to rest right now. It's just not true. Yes, people who work for YCombinator startups tend to wo

I love the idea of building a team and then coming up with different products. Your project mayhem is almost as cool as the one in fight club. I think the idea behind Spicy Elephant might be a bit abstract for most consumers, but the site c
