I work in a remote IT office and I would absolutely pay per incident for support as a user. I don't expect a free meal ticket.

Honestly as a user, Installous totally sucked. The thing was rife with malware and it was impossible to tell which apps were legit and which were malware. I tried it a couple of time just to see what it was like (this was also before wides

Google, for a company that reputes to perform services, is probably the single most consumer-unfriendly company on the planet. Their customer care dept. consists of one crazy cat lady in a cabin in the hills of California. They've sold ente

I've seen this article to be 100% correct in practice. There's a small minority of agents, who when I opt out, laugh and say "yeah, I don't blame you, I wouldn't go through these either." There's a majority who are simply trying to do whate

This buying strategy generally is supporting more sustainable jobs also. Doing things like buying less degradable products and shopping locally really does make a big difference over the long term. Food and drink is also good (way better if

The biggest thing is that many of the products are not unlockable unless you pay over the average, so the average is always trending slightly up more than other pay-what-you-want models. High incentive to fork over a few more dollars.

Your smarminess is cute, but Apple eased up on the "duplicate functionality" stuff a long time ago. You have to look no further than the fact that Chrome exists.

Engineering has always been a put up or shut up kind of field. I've seen people with very little education who are some of the most respected programmers in their field and I've seen people who barely graduated from State U making 175K lead

Why is THQ failing so hard? Is it simply because of how poorly the company was run for decades beginning with the Nintendo era where they foisted tons of licensed crap games on kids? I know I still kind of have negative associations with th

So you'd rather them sell NOTHING than THQ games? These games are stellar. Company of Heroes is one of the best tactical RTS games of all time. Red Faction Armageddon is very good. Metro 2033 is very good. Saints Row and Darksiders are very

Having lived in the North for most of my life (or at least above the Mason-Dixon) and having lived an extensive stint in the South, nowadays the Northern cities seem far more segregated. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that there

By that analogy, only Microsoft blessed developers could make desktop apps and all others who wanted to distribute independently will be forced to use the command line.

Perhaps this IS old news, but I certainly didn't understand it if it was. So basically Windows is creating a two tier system where blessed developers can get access to key system functionality where others are left to the "legacy" desktop.
