John, you really don't know what you're talking about. Give it a rest. Chrome on iOS does way more than you think it does -- e.g., it uses its own network stack.

We're certainly finding interesting Swift bugs, that's true.

That's true, but we're also still learning, and things are changing as Swift and libraries evolve.

There is much more to a browser in 2014 than just rendering HTML and running JavaScript.

The storage API is very similar -- a few record extensions, a few headers changed. The auth layer is completely new, and there's no iOS client library for it, nor any plans for one that I know of.

Mozilla Corporation gets paid by Google to offer Google as a search engine to Firefox users. There's no sponsorship relationship — it's a mutual exchange of value. See the corporation's audited financial statements: https:&#

Err… you're wrong. Native Fennec doesn't use XUL for the UI . It still uses Gecko and XUL for web content. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Fennec/NativeUI/Architecture_Overvi...

(I'm a Mozillian.) These are slightly sensationalist ways of phrasing the following facts: * libxul hit linker limits on 32-bit Windows builds with profile guided optimization enabled, as it did a couple of years ago. PGO uses a lot of memo

I'm English. I live in the US. I actually like the American "how are you?" ritual; it can simply act as a ritual, but it can also convey genuine welcome, or you can go "off script" as necessary. Contrast to the older English "how do you do"

I'm pretty sure that's the case :D Chrome's location bar provides everything you _type_ to Google, and using its sync feature gives them all of your bookmarks and history.

Give Vertical Tabs a shot. It's faster, albeit no tree handling. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vertical-tabs...

Sync intentionally doesn't allow you to see your data on the web: it's encrypted . If you could view it through a webpage, it could be stolen or subpoenaed, and we're not willing to take that risk with your passwords and history. If you wa

Yes, it's a little more complex than Chrome's sync... but Chrome's sync keeps most of your data in cleartext on Google's servers, and even their optional encryption is relatively weak (low-entropy key derived from your password). I don't li

Everything you type in Chrome's location bar is sent to Google, most likely unencrypted. Every single character. If you want to turn this behavior on in Firefox, you can do so with a simple add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/
