Oh my. I clicked on this and uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger went nuts: 14 & 6 blocked just on the first page. Clicking "lesson 4.1. printf" bumped that up to 101 & 16. That is just too much.

It's not about kernel access, it's about equal access to avoid yet another monopoly. Microsoft could have come up with a kernel API that their own malware (and everyone elses) product could make use of. They did not.
