(I'm making the same distinction between exact and modified copies that the Creative Commons folks make...) As to your second point... Ha! Fair enough. But IIRC case law has actually recognized that the copies created on a computer as

I completely agree with your first sentence. But I think your interpretation of NonCommercial is a bit off. NonCommercial in the context of a book does not refer to "using" the book or to creating derivatives. You don't need

I'm not the poster you're replying to, but I think I understand it. npm is not just their package management tool... the way most people use it, it depends on someone else's package registry/repository to deploy to your

Over the past 3 years or so, I’ve seen Apple TVs attached to projectors in many conference rooms. People who want to present from a Windows machine do the cable dance still, but those who want to present from an iPhone, iPad or Mac just con

What's the advantage of ISOs with Fusion? For Fusion, I've always just pointed the guest's CD drive at the .app bundle and installed that way. I first needed a script like this one when I moved a couple of mac minis to ESXi s

I run build systems as images on an ESXi host which runs on a Mac Mini. The easiest way to install OS X on ESXi is from an iso. My scripts for creating these isos are not as nice as this one. (I use ESXi because I find I can get one or two

I clicked thinking "I bet that's Tim May." I was not disappointed. Some of his posts in the '90s were tough to read, but they were interesting without fail. Anyone know if/where he posts nowadays?

Unless those non-UWP apps are browsers that use non-Microsoft rendering or javascript engines. I don't think that's a dealbreaker, especially when they'll let people trade from 10S to 10Pro for free. But it's a pretty bi

Does anyone have a link to a run-down on reasons to prefer this format over CMS? The community's been iterating on that for ~20 years now (RSA PKCS#7, RFC 3852, RFC 5652, and a pile of other formats/protocols built on top of these
