There's a big spread, and it depends on which institution and where in the institution you are. the closer you are to the money (front office vs back) the more money you make, but the more stress you get the smaller the firm, the more freed

We already moved to flowdock, it seems better so far, primarily because it's STABLE! When I used grove, the web client was basically unuseable, and even our IRC clients got disconnected periodically. The worse part is, the IRC disconnect

If you're interested in working with data (especially with python) you should come to this conference. Several of the authors of the major libraries in this space (numpy, scipy, pandas, pytables) will be there giving tutorials.

very sad - I will be donating. I would not be doing what I am doing today without matplotlib - a scientific computing toolchain without a good visualization component is a non-starter.

Are you using clone in a negative way? I don't think workflowy has a lock on outlines, One could say that workflowy is just an emacs org mode clone except on the web

doing a scatter plot of 10k points in SVG is impractical - ok, so you could argue that you can't really see 10k points on the screen, that's fair, but if a user has 10k points, and they want to see them, you either have to figure out how to

just a small nitpick, you should be able to calculate portfolio variance using simple matrix operations instead of writing a double for loop. something like. temp = a* std_dev var = np.dot(np.dot(temp.T, cor), temp)
