Time to switch browsers. Gone are the days when anyone could write one, they are now very complex products and a company would need the resources of google, Microsoft etc to build one. Opera was once ok, but there's just no way it can keep

You've just lost any credibility by saying this.

I think you missed the point entirely. Facebook have just become his marketing department.

I would imagine that many others also have to go grocery shopping this week, but that doesn't make it newsworthy. I find trying to use hn as your support group a little distasteful.

Although I don't support it myself, I live in America where there is the death penalty, so we already kill people for doing things we don't like. I am advocating that the defense that poachers are just some poor schmuck that wants to feed h

many might be surprised that instagram only keep 612x612 images, so if you were hoping to download full resolution images,. you're out of luck... that, however, also makes the whole issue moot since the images are so small to be of little/n

Yes but there's six billion of our species and very few rhino left. You could wipe out all the world's poachers and it be a rounding error on human population. While I don't think advocating killing anyone is a good idea, I have no sympathy

But this is still not bait and switch. You can use of the myriad if other apps, like Flickr which stores the images at a decent resolution (instead if the 612x612)

The title is misleading, Amazin video has been available on the iPad for a while. This update brings it to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

I get the usual error about the app is no longer available :( I really hope apple sort out their store problems soon.

How on earth does someone quitting their job and moving back home constitute news on hn??? I realize tumblr's down, but this really is a lame story. Good luck to the guy, but seriously, this is not newsworthy.

You either love SF or you don't, for me cities are not interchangeable based on factors of convenience. I live in SF, and love it.

It's a shame that a search for seatgeek on the iPhone results in the usual no listings. Maybe in a day or two it will work, but I really hope Apple get their search indexing latency sorted out soon.

Sounds like an awful place to work. While i'm all for productivity, I have never seen it correlated with office volume, either positively or negatively. For as long as phones sit on desks, this policy sounds ridiculous.

100k per day is just over 1 q/s, which shouldn't concern any scale engineer. If you take that two or three orders of magnitude higher it starts to become something the scale engineer pays attention to, otherwise, I don't see the concern wit

thanks for the information. Speaking as someone who has worked in the search industry for many years I am surprised to see this. For me, setting up an ES server on AWS and pushing content directly into it seems pretty trivial, but I get the

Interesting. Odd that I should be downvoted for asking this question, but whatever. I get the benefits of cloud based search hosting, but am surprised that analytics and a crawler is enough of a reason to pay money though. Crawler's are fla

Is anyone ever actually happy with database performance? I have never met a customer that wouldn't welcome better performance for so little outlay. The failure rate of drives shouldn't be a huge concern, data is kept in redundant drives and

I am confused about the swiftype value proposition? What does it offer over simply installing elastic search (et al.) and pushing json documents. Making a mobile/web search front-end isn't very difficult using json results+mustache template

how could hours viewed not be material? Given that most people don't spend every hour of the day watching netflix, the number is a function of users. It's a very typical metric for a streaming video service.
