It's common here to say something like "this week it's in the 70s." In places that use Celsius, "in the 20s" must be too broad, so do they instead say something like "high 20s"?

The only connection off the top of my head is that mL of water increases by 1˚C if heated with 1 calorie. Which is annoying because 1 Calorie is 1000 calories.

It's becoming increasingly hard to be a mathematician, physicist, or SWE without using an LLM. Of course there's always the choice.

My head did 36" divided by 2, so 18", minus 12 1/16", so 5 and 15/16". That is harder than working with quarters or fifths of meters, but easier than thirds or sixths of meters. I don't know which is bette

As you said, it's occasional. Temperature describes weather more often than anything else. And there's no advantage to Celsius for the ovens either.

They also accidentally got MPH right for cars. Fastest highway is like 85. 100 is the fastest a normal car can go and also a reasonable point to arrest the driver.

Celsius isn't granular enough. Many digital thermostats will even add decimal places if you switch to Celsius mode that aren't present in Fahrenheit. Secondly, the highest temperature ever recorded outdoors was 56.7˚C. So no matte

Besides size, there's distance. Like it's annoying how UK and France look much further apart than they actually are, and every sea/air route appears to not take the shortest path. I'd be fine with this change if it weren

Yeah, the prime meridian selection is the actually colonial part of the Mercator map. It's not like they were trying to make Europe look big, but they were trying to make London central.

Even computer maps at the time like Google Earth had distortion around the poles, as if they were pieced together in slices. So that combined with the globe caps are why I never really knew what they looked like as a kid.

I think you have to be extra careful with things like the bayati scale besides just being in tune. The quarter-tone has its role but is easy to misuse, like staying on it too long. The opposite is pentatonic where you can spam random notes

Yep, the king is currently SMS, which isn't good. I like passkeys, but somewhere between websites and browsers, even those aren't used in a consistent way. And idk why there are so many prompts before you're actually logged i

Yeah, when I was a kid and read "oh there are actually 3 timelines," I stopped caring about a continuous storyline. There's already enough of a story within each game.

It's either that, not use an LLM, or local-host an LLM. If you can local-host one then great, this is a compelling reason to do that too. A lot of people aren't in that position.

Does netboot complicate anything here, aside from needing 10G NICs as mentioned in the article? Maybe game loading times, unless the games are cached on local disks instead which would make sense.

From what I remember 9-11 years ago... The algorithm was either bad or very gamed in ways that can't really be fixed, so instead you have to find people manually and reach out. The websites were bloated, so there were several different
