Presumably they make a network request to get the options. So it makes sense to have a loading spinner just in case it takes a long time, even if it's usually near-instant.

That's really cool! Need to find someone to play this with now :) Though the counting seems a bit weird. Two overlapping lines of 5 seems to count as "1 two, 2 five". I also managed to get two overlapping fours to count as &q

The product table I saw says "MPF100 (non 'S' devices)", and then I checked their MPF100 family comparison page and saw that no "MPFS*" devices were listed there. Is there a more informative product table on so

If they did that, someone might actually develop an open source toolchain and software stack for these. However, considering they charge 200x more for the software than the hardware, I can't imagine that's in their financial inter

I don't get it. Why do you have to read the internal implementation details of a preprocessing tool when using it?

If you cut the ads out of the newspaper, the publisher still gets paid. If you block ads on YouTube, they don't (but still need to pay for the bandwidth to deliver you the video).

Nicely spotted actually, in that specific case leaving it blank will get you the exact same result. That's because the enum has VK_COMPONENT_SWIZZLE_IDENTITY = 0, and setting everything to IDENTITY is defined to result in exactly what

Just want to add: As far as I know, the "V" in Vulkan is actually supposed to represent 5. As in, the next thing after OpenGL 4, which will be the last version of OpenGL. That, and the volcanic theme to fit with Mantle, the AMD ex

When I said WASM doesn't require a VM, I meant it doesn't need fallback byte-code interpreters, multi-tier instrumented tracing compilers, invasive managed memory, deoptimization checks, etc. Just compiling it once and running tha

WASM doesn't require a VM, you can compile it AOT just fine. There is really no difference between a C-like language that every browser engine would have to parse and compile, and WASM. Except that parsing WASM is easier and faster, an

+1 for EDN. In terms of new formats, I'm quite fond of RON, it hits a similar sweetspot in flexibility. JSON5 is nice too, mostly because it's popular. IMO Jsonnet, CUE, etc are just in a different category of complexity since the

Don't see how that follows. Typescript treats code as either TS or JS depending on the file extension. But that doesn't mean nobody who has JavaScript code would switch to Typescript. The idea is, you migrate one file at a time. W

A code-identical fork with a different name for trademark reasons is not going to make the Rust team write a spec. Look to the GCC Rust implementation for that. Also, people already do work in Rust. It's in the Linux kernel right now
